Experience the magic of spring at our upcoming music concert! Join us for a night filled with enchanting melodies performed by our talented orchestra and vocal music programs. "Spring's Awakening" will be performed on April 12 at 7:00 and features an array of acts showcasing our incredible music students. Tickets are free so bring your family and friends!
“Spring's Awakening”, Prep’s Annual Spring Music Concert, will take place this Friday at 7pm in Norris Auditorium and will feature our Vocal and Instrumental Ensembles. The Flintridge Singers, directed by Mr. Hill and accompanied by Bill Schmidt, will present a variety of their favorite songs including selections from American Musical Theater's “The Sound of Music”, “Mary Poppins”, and “West Side Story”. They will be joined by selected instrumentalists on “The Times They Are A -Changin’” (Bob Dylan) and “How Can I Keep from Singing” (American Folk Song).
Act II will feature the orchestras directed by Mr. Allen and several curtain acts. Community Orchestra will perform music from film including John Williams’ arrangement of Carlos Gardel’s “Tango Por Una Cabeza” and Dave Grusin’s “Fratelli Chase” from the “The Goonies”. Orchestra class will venture into the woods with Felix Mendelssohn’s “Scherzo from a Midsummer Night’s Dream” followed by movements from concertos by Henryk Wieniawski and Johann Neruda featuring soloists on violin and trumpet. The orchestras will come together to perform Percy Grainger’s arrangement of the Irish folk song “Danny Boy” (Irish Tune from County Derry) and the rousing Finale of Dvorak’s “New World Symphony”.
