The Jazz and Jazz–Rock Ensembles present two showings of Timeless Toots from Many Roots, a collection of classic repertoire from the American music family tree.
The Jazz Ensemble will perform a variety of blues pieces by W.C. Handy, Horace Silver, and Maceo Parker. In the tradition of Broadway, instruments and voices will combine as the Jazz Band backs-up the Flintridge Singers on songs from The Sound of Music and West Side Story. The Jazz-Rock Ensemble will cover yet another distinct blues piece, this time by Miles Davis, along with some of the most iconic songs by Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Carole King, and Stevie Wonder.
Two performances at 5:00 and 7:30 PM in the black box (Miller Theater). Tickets are free and all are welcome to experience a night jazzy tunes!
